Versiunea în limba română

Natural resources are the backbone of modern industry, needed to produce everything that surrounds us, according to a visualcapitalist.com analysis, which highlights a Top 10 countries in terms of the estimated value of these resources.

Statista data for 2021 shows that the global natural resource landscape is dominated by Russia, with reserves valued at $75 trillion, mostly consisting of coal, natural gas, oil and rare earths. At the end of 2018, Russia's Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment valued the country's mineral reserves at approximately $1.44 trillion.

In terms of global share, Russia is second to none in natural gas, holding the world's largest proven reserves of 1.32 quadrillion cubic feet (0.03737824 quadrillion cubic meters) in 2020 - nearly 20% of the global total . Russia is also a powerhouse in gold production.

The United States ranks second with an estimated $45 trillion in natural resources, which include coal, timber, natural gas, and precious metals such as gold. Saudi Arabia ($34 trillion) and Canada ($33 trillion) follow, with these oil-rich countries ranking third and fourth on the list, respectively. Saudi Arabia, with its vast oil fields, is a leader in global energy markets. Canada, on the other hand, also benefits from substantial uranium deposits and is home to some of the largest lumber companies in the world.

In fifth place is Iran (27 trillion dollars - crude oil, natural gas), after which we find China (23 trillion dollars), which has vast coal reserves, being the main profile producer.

Mineral-rich Brazil and Australia are the main producers of metals such as iron ore, while Australia is also a leading exporter of coal. Thus, Brazil occupies the seventh place, with 22 trillion dollars, and Australia, the eighth place, with 20 trillion dollars. On the ninth place we find Iraq, with 16 trillion dollars, and on the last position in the Top 10 - Venezuela, with 14 trillion dollars.

Moscow: Russia's oil production - 9 million barrels/day

Russia is meeting its commitments to the OPEC+ group of oil producers and has reached the promised production level of 9 million barrels per day, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said recently.

According to the OPEC+ deal, Russia's oil production quota is 8.98 million barrels per day from June to the end of this year.

"Russia has reached the voluntarily assumed production obligation level of 9 million barrels per day," Novak said.

OPEC+ cut production to balance volatile global oil markets. In November, OPEC+ agreed to delay a planned December increase in oil output by a month as weak demand, particularly from China, and rising supply from outside the group keep pressure on the oil market.
